My girlfirend and our daughter started horse riding again in the summer. I watched them fool around on the horses regularly. Laughing is the motto when watching horseriding. Horses that don't listen to their riders, riders that do the wrong thing, riders falling off, horses refusing to do anything, biting horses and panicing horses. Better slapstick than this, is simply not possible.
I personally have a lot of problems with horses : I cannot sit on them without falling off immidiately when trying to just sit on it, horses kicking when you walk by them, power abuse by the police when going to a soccer match of my favourite Ajax Amsterdam and when trying to be nice to them biting horses. Since my life motto is fixing trauma's I have, I went horseriding together with my girlfriend last week. I had a horse called Dutefka, which was a PITA in the stables. She hates to be there and makes your life miserable if you are scared of them. First you have to brush the horse (they have a shitload of hair, damned) and check that they have no sand in the wrong places. After brushing for 30 minutes on one side (she wouldn't let me go to the other side), I called for help and with the help, my problems were solved. An experienced gentleman showed that the horse wasn't that difficult and I was just an idiot. If I don't know anything about something, I will not pretend to actually know something about it, which is a nice motto, as far as I am concerned. I am not that big of an idiot to not study a nice horse riding FAQ, but hey, my other horse riding mates don't have to know that.
Riding her was fabalous. She did everything automatically and I could even get her to places she didn't have in mind herself. I talked her through the hour of lessons we got and she pretended nicely for me that I knew what I was doing.
The second day after wasn't that nice, since my muscles (apperantly I have muscles) where playing up and still are.
My conclusion is that Dutefka was nice to me, since she knew I would get some serious muscle problems after that :)
I will keep to soccer and progamming from now on and look a bit differently at the stuff my girlfriend and daughter are doing twice a week...
