I was stuck on a huge preformance issue in XULUX and couldn't get my hands on it. Since swing heavily uses messaging, it's hard to intercept what goes on where and when..
After fighting the problem untill 3 am last night, today a simple idea hit me : Why not trying a profiler again ?
My employer has a license of opmtizeIt, but since I started working fulltime under linux and this was only a windows license, I stopped looking at it..
The Eclipse Profiler Plugin saved the day and I found the problem in 15 minutes, which included installing it :)
The problem is now fixed and noticing a lot of areas where we can fix preformance issues...
So just remember to use a profiler so now and then...
This is one of those weeks that you should forget. The series of events in short :
- Last wednesday we got the news from my employer that there are 2 possibilities : we are being bought by a bigger company or we file for bankruptcy.
- Bitching from our customer comes to a top, even though 80% of the complaints is not something we can solve at all. It's eg law or other political things.
- Us being bought by a bigger company, depends on that customer
- Friday night my server got very seriously hacked, by a romanian guy. I switched of cvs on my box in the US, but forgot that cvs was still running on my box at home :(. I learned from him and the long due upgrade to another version of linux had to start immidiately.
- Box is running, but my adsl connection is down for 3 days (what the hell!)
- Fell of the stairs
- 2 days ago we got the news : we are filing bankruptcy. It's a bitch. We had a mission and we cannot finish it :(. We had enough going for, but a lack of sales killed us.
Now it's time to find a new job and take the rest I badly need..
